Makayla received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a minor in Addiction Disorders and Recovery Studies from Texas Tech University in 2017. She went on to receive a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University in 2020.

Makayla enjoys working with those who are struggling with substance use disorders and is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) for the state of Texas. She has provided individual and group counseling for men and women in corrections and drug rehabilitation settings. Her background also includes providing therapy for those struggling with trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and family dynamic.

Makayla is also a Licensed Professional Counselor and enjoys working with other mental health concerns unrelated to substance abuse. She is excited to use many different evidence-based techniques and therapeutic interventions in order to assist women, men, couples, and other populations.
