Karina is a Licensed Master Social Worker through the state of Texas, supervised by Jan Lentz, LCSW-S. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Angelo State University in 2017, and her Master of Social Work in 2020 from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Karina completed her graduate field work with individuals in an in-patient psychiatric setting. There she assisted in providing group therapy and services for inpatient hospitalizations regarding self-care improvements, mental health awareness, and crisis safety planning. Karina has experience working with teens and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, insomnia, and suicide prevention. She has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Suicide Prevention, Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, and CBT for Psychosis. She provides counseling for teenagers and adults, as well as the Spanish-speaking community.
Karina has an eclectic approach for her sessions, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused techniques, and Person-Centered techniques to assist clients in understanding and overcoming how unhelpful thought process affect feelings and behaviors, with the goal of helping clients take control of their thoughts and emotions.
