What is the LOSS Team of Tom Green County?
The LOSS Team is a team of volunteer survivors of suicide and licensed therapists who are trained to respond to scenes of local suicides to provide peer support, information about resources, and serve as an installation of hope for newly bereaved after the loss of a loved one to suicide. A responding team consists of one survivor and one therapist.
The LOSS Team of Tom Green County works in conjunction with local law enforcement, Justices of the Peace, the Crisis Intervention Unit, the Survivors of Suicide (SOS) Support Group, churches, family, friends, and other support services for those in need.
LOSS Team meetings are held the first Thursday of each month at 6 PM and the second Monday of each month at noon. Click here to find the next meeting.

What is an SOS support group?
Our Survivors of Suicide (SOS) support group is a peer support group for those who have been closely impacted by a suicide loss. The group has two co-facilitators - a survivor of suicide and a licensed therapist. The SOS group is not a therapy group. Members of the group receive support, guidance, understanding, compassion, comfort, resources, belonging, and social interaction from others who have lost a loved one to suicide.
The SOS support group meets weekly on Tuesdays. If you would like to attend or support this group, please contact us at (325) 944-2561.
What do we mean by a "survivor," or a, "survivor of suicide?"
A survivor of suicide is any individual who has experienced the death of someone close to them as a result of suicide. They are intimately and directly affected by a suicide and self-define as survivors after the suicide of another person. Survivors can include family, friends, coworkers, or any other person impacted by the loss.
