Community Relations & Mental Health Educator VISTA (click here to apply)

The Community Relations & Mental Health Educator VISTA will serve with West Texas Counseling & Guidance (WTCG) to reduce misunderstanding and stigmatizing of mental illness in the Concho Valley. Engaging in fundraising efforts, social media and traditional media/marketing, to increase awareness of WTCG to low income individuals. In a recent Community Health Needs Assessment of the Poor and Extremely Poor in west Texas, data identified that individuals living with low income and poverty do not believe that behavioral counseling services are affordable or available for them.

Member Duties: 1) Develop and implement an active outreach plan encompassing social media, traditional media, and face to face marketing strategies to increase community awareness of WTCG services with a special focus on informing low-income individuals and persons in poverty about availability, eligibility, and personal development opportunities offered by behavioral counseling services; 2)Refine, develop, and manage donor relation systems to increase the donor base to support mission, goals, and sustainability of WTCG programs; and 3)Collaborate and develop partnerships with area social service agencies serving low-income citizens and participate in development of a community resource guide.
